Some people may not realize it, but rescue groups are so underrated when they deserve all the recognition. Their everyday routine is no easy task, and they always have to prepare for the worse that could happen.
Dog Rescue Shelter in Mladenovac, Serbia, is no different. They always strive to make dogs’ lives comfortable.
One normal day in this shelter, they received reports about a stray dog wandering about in a park near Mladenovac’s rehabilitation institute. Since they don’t say no to anyone or anything, the team responded immediately.
There they saw how awful the dog’s condition was. He had matted fur, and his hair was in dreadlocks infected with fleas. The weather that day was so hot that one could only imagine how this dog survived the heat.
When the rescuers arrived, they could immediately tell that the dog was already thirsty and dehydrated. Aside from that, they noticed a rope around his neck, which could probably mean that someone owned him but discarded him at some point.
The rescuers then fed him until he willingly went inside the kennel. Once safe, they brought him back to their shelter.
However, the dog wasn’t backing down. He continued to snarl and bark at his rescuers, feeling threatened when there’s no reason to.
Since there was no way to calm him down, they gave him sedatives. In this way, the vets could check what illnesses he had to endure.
They later found out that his testicles were in his stomach and that it needed surgery right away. For this to happen, they cleared his mats off and shaved all remaining fur. After receiving anesthetics, they immediately performed the operation, which turned out successful.
They started treating his external and internal parasites as well. They later gave him the name, Rasta. Here he is now:
After declared as medically cleared, Rasta is now in his forever home. He indeed came a long way from his stray life, and he deserves every bit of it.
