Whenever I hear news about dogs being abused, neglected, and maltreated by people, I always feel a mix of emotions, mainly bafflement, anger, and sadness. It’s hard to believe that people are capable of such atrocities and are still allowed to own pets. However, there is also quite a lot of news about remarkable dogs being rescued by wonderful people that actually restores my faith in humanity.

Dog rescue stories are always heartwarming, and it’s awe-inspiring how people can get together to help a random dog. There are hundreds of dogs living out there that are desperate for our help. As responsible people, we have to do our part, no matter how small. We can consider donating money to animal rescue organizations, volunteering in animal shelters, or we can choose to foster rescue dogs until they find loving forever homes.

Hope

After a life of pain, Hope found hope in her new home.

Hope had been neglected by her family since she was a puppy. Asa young pup, she broke both her front legs, and her family never even took her to the veterinarian to be treated. Throughout her growth years and beyond, she was in pain whenever she walked. In addition, Hope was given so little food that when she was finally rescued, she was emaciated . When Hope’s family grew tired of taking care of her, they tried to sell her for $50 online.

Thankfully, an animal rescue organization stepped in and claimed her. Hope’s story went viral on the internet.  Caring people started donating money for her veterinary treatment and to give her a second chance to find a loving forever home. After years of walking in pain, Hope got her much-needed surgery and was finally able to walk again pain free. Hope is a superb dog that truly deserves a loving family.

New Star

Tiny New Star now has a loving forever home.

A tiny dog named New Star was found with  plastic wrapped around his mouth. He was frightened, not knowing what to do to get help. Thankfully, someone found him and rescued him. New Star was extremely grateful after that person  made sure he got help. While the people around him were treating his wounds, New Star waited patiently.

Eventually, he started spending time with one of his rescuers and finally received love for possibly the first time in his life. Eventually he came out of his shell and showed everyone that he’s an great dog that has a right to a loving forever home. New Star learned to trust humans again, and he’s now living a life that he deserves.

Poppy

Poppy was rescued from terrible circumstances.

Poppy, a stray dog, survived against the toughest odds. Because both her back legs were paralyzed, Poppy had to drag herself for miles.  To stay alive in Botswana, she had to avoid lions, hyenas, and other predators which would gladly have made a meal of her.  In her travels to survive, Poppy ended up in a research camp where workers at the camp took pity and gave her food, water, and shelter.

The director of the Ecoexist Project research camp,, Amanda Stronza, instantly fell in love with Poppy and decided to help her as best she could. Poppy’s story went viral, and donations started coming in. Poppy got her much-needed surgery and rehabilitation to help her walk again. Eventually, Poppy was adopted by one of Amanda’s best friends and is now living a life full of love in Washington, D.C.

I've had dogs all my life. They teach me and I teach them. It's a mutual benefit society! I love having more than one dog at a time, though I have only one at present.
