Suzanne Clark and her husband loved traveling and met an amazing Golden Retriever named Reema during one of their trips. When they adopted the dog, they brought her along to different countries, but her favorite place was always the beach.

Happy place

Suzanne and her little family lived in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, England, where the nearest beach was a mile and a half walk from their house. She always took Reema out for spontaneous beach trips. The two loved wading in the water and soaking up the sun on bright days.

As Reema got older, she experienced back problems and became too sick to make the journey.  Although the dog took short walks, the beach was too far for the senior dog.

Reema was visibly sad whenever Suzanne saw her. Her owner knew it was because of her inability to visit her favorite place.

Since Suzanne didn’t like seeing her pet like that, she thought of different ways to help. One of her brightest ideas came into action when she turned to social media.

Dream came true

After Suzanne posted about her problem, she got an instant from a kind man named Paul Dodds. Paul was a taxi driver that had a soft spot for dogs. When he saw the post, he didn’t think twice about offering his services for Reema.

Suzanna met up with Paul in person, and they talked about the offer. Paul met Reema in person and saw how amazing the Golden Retriever was. True to his word, he promised to allocate one day of the week to transport Suzanne and Reema to the beach.

Reema the Sphinx

Despite her inability to run around and play, Reema was manifestly happier whenever she was at the beach. The dog always expressed her gratitude by hugging and kissing Paul after their trips.

A small act, it made a big difference for Reema. Suzanne was deeply grateful for Paul’s kindness, and she hoped that a lot of people were inspired by him.

Located in Maine, we are dog lovers, and have had several breeds to learn from. And they do teach us, if we listen! A wolf hybrid taught us about the value of positive reinforcement and building trust; a Fox Terrier taught us about the necessity of basic commands off-leash; a Sheltie taught us about how to keep a working dog engaged and happy; and a Border Collie taught us that even a severely handicapped dog can bring joy into your life.
