It was a beautiful sunny day in India. Children were playing on the streets when they noticed a dog stuck in the sewers. Luckily the kids knew they had to call an animal shelter to help save the dog.
The children called Animal Aid Unlimited, the local animal shelter in India. Fortunately, the shelter was quick in gathering a team. Within minutes, the team was at the location of the helpless animal.
The rescuers noticed that the dog was stuck in the sewer that had dirty water and a bunch of trash. One of the rescuers volunteered to jump in and lift the dog unto the streets.
The volunteer set the dog down but he soon fell to the ground because he couldn’t walk or stand. The same volunteer then wrapped the dog in a blanket and carried him to their car.
The rescuers rushed to get back to the shelter once they noticed the extent of the dog’s condition. Once they arrived, the vet immediately tried to stabilize the dog, hoping to alleviate the his pain.
A second chance
The volunteers at the animal shelter decided to name the dog Shyam. They all had high hopes that Shyam was going to recover.
Shyam was weak from exhaustion on his first night in the shelter, so a volunteer had to hand feed him. Luckily, after the next few days, Shyam was able to eat on his own.
Once he was strong enough, the rescuers started to treat the dog’s skin. They gave him a medicated bath once a week and rubbed ointment on his body afterward.
It took a couple of weeks before Shyam was able to walk and run. Once he was on his feet, there was no stopping him from playing with the other dogs. Thanks to the other rescued dogs, Shyam blossomed into a playful dog.
